Flamenco Guitarist Visits Saint Gregory’s School !

 Maria Zemantauski is a noted flamenco guitarist and composer. She has played throughout the United States and Spain. On Friday, January 22, Maria visited Saint Gregory’s School. Kindergarten through Eighth grade enjoyed an amazing performance where Maria serenaded them with flamenco music. She also taught them about “cante hondo,” deep, slow, sad songs and “cante chico,” fast, upbeat, happy songs. The students even preformed “palmas” with Maria, clapping out rhythms while she played her guitar. She ended the presentation by answering questions from the students. It was exciting to see Spanish culture come to life in front of the students’ eyes!
