technology student"What Saint Gregory’s Teaches Me"
by: G.E. (Gr6)

Saint Gregory’s is an amazing school and has many nice qualities that will help all of the people who go there. This will help them to make a wonderful and fulfilling life for themselves and to help them even when they get older. Here are some of the qualities that I think really stand out to anyone who goes here.

I think that one of the main qualities is leadership. It teaches you to stand up when there is a problem and then to inspire your peers to do the same, so that they will do it and then their friends will do it…. So it is a never-ending process. Leadership is something that will always help you no matter what and can never be taken away from you no matter how hard they try.

Other qualities it teaches you to be is kind and respectful. They teach this by having the teachers welcome you when you arrive and keeping their classes in order by just setting rules and making sure that everyone is happy.

I also like how you get and are able to earn many privileges, like going to the gym in the winter, going outside for spring and even the pleasure of having two recesses. The teachers are always willing to do what you want and that is a very special privilege that not many kids are allowed to have.

Saint Gregory’s has been a very big part of my life since I have been there since nursery. Even though it is hard to adjust to all the new teachers that you get over the years, you can be positive that they will help you get used to and start to like them because they will help whenever something goes wrong. So all I can say is that the lessons and teachings I have learned here will stay with me for the rest of my life and will help me achieve almost anything I want.

"My Experiences at Saint Gregory’s School"
By: Christopher Carroll (gr.6)

Saint Gregory’s student learningI have been in Saint Gregory’s School since Nursery School, so this is my ninth year here. I have loved every year I have been here.

In Saint Gregory’s we are given many exciting and fun opportunities that many students aren’t privileged to have. First of all we have a small school, which makes sure that students don’t fall through the cracks and that everyone is on the same page. Three days out of our six-day schedule there are extra help periods in which students can go see any teacher in the school for additional help or tutoring, if needed. At the beginning and throughout the school year, students are privileged to experience many out of school learning activities such as field trips and fun beginning of the year trips.

Our school is broken up into two sections, the Lower School and the Upper School. In the Lower School you realize that the teachers aren’t just teaching you the basic subjects; they are teaching you valuable leadership skills that you will carry with you the rest of your life. In the Upper school the faculty gives you more freedom and responsibility and bases their teaching on the idea of learning from your mistakes.

One day out of our six-day schedule in the Upper School we have an advising period in which we sit down with our advisor (one of our teachers) and three or four other students and we discuss problems we have or issues that come up. You can also meet one on one with your advisor about personal issues. Your advisor is in contact with all your other teachers and knows if something is going on or a problem comes up. It’s nice to have this person to talk with and who watches out for you.

Saint Gregory’s also has a Knights Society, which rewards you for the amount of community service you do. You can serve within the school and outside of school too.

I would send my child to this school because it is a great learning environment in which the students and teachers form close relationships. The teachers always are willing to take time out of their busy schedule to do what it takes to make you feel comfortable with the material. Also the Saint Gregory’s community is unbelievable. There are so many extras at our school such as Spirit Day, Special Persons Day, and Field Days.

Overall, this school is always welcoming to new students and I, like many others, have developed bonds with students and teachers that will last forever.
