Message from Headmaster

Saint Gregory’s HeadmasterIt is a privilege for me to welcome you to Saint Gregory’s School, and I thank you for your interest in our community.

Since 1962, Saint Gregory’s School has committed itself to preparing boys for a challenging secondary school education. The faculty will encourage your son to reach his potential academically, will offer him the opportunity to develop his leadership skills, and will serve as an example of Christian values.

Whether the boys are working on their writing skills, studying a math formula, exploring new topics on a science field trip, participating in an athletic event, or displaying their art and music talents, the students will be encouraged to develop the character and spirit that will maintain them for their future challenges.

I invite you to come and visit our School. Experience the excitement of our daily routine, and see how your son can grow in a stimulating and caring environment.

Single-Sex Education

Saint Gregory’s was founded in 1962 by a group of parents who recognized the need for a boys’ school to complement the existing girls’ schools in the Capital Region. Research and experience have, since then, shown the many benefits of single sex education.

Albany academySaint Gregory’s School is designed to educate boys and girls in nursery, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten, and all boys in grades 1 through 8. Current research on brain development highlights some of the subtle differences between how boys and girls learn in the formative years of education. For this reason, Saint Gregory’s serves boys and girls during the early childhood years and all boys in the elementary and middle school years. Our classrooms, our schedule, and our teaching styles are designed to engage the creativity, activity, and intellectual curiosity of boys as they move from childhood toward adulthood. High academic expectations, an emphasis on the Catholic faith, outlets for physical energy, opportunities for leadership and service learning, and a belief in mutual respect and courtesy combine to provide the highest quality education for boys in these crucial years of development and learning.
